ST. LOUIS — Florida redshirt freshman forward Dontay Bassett has been cleared from concussion protocol and will be available when the third-seed Gators open SEC Tournament play on Friday night against either 11-seed South Carolina or 6-seed Arkansas (9:30 p.m., SEC Network).
The 6-foot-9, 240 pound Bassett has been out since suffering a concussion in the first half of UF’s 73-52 win at Alabama on Feb. 27.
Bassett has been coming on late in the season, scoring a career-high 12 points in UF’s 72-66 win over Auburn on Feb. 24. For the season, Bassett is averaging 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Bassett will add some depth in a frontcourt rotation that includes junior center Kevarrius Hayes, redshirt sophomore forward Keith Stone and sophomore center Gorjok Gak.
