Former Florida swingman Egor Koulechov and point guard Chris Chiozza both turned in solid performances at the Portsmouth Invitational over last weekend.

The 6-foot-5 Koulechov averaged 9 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games, while the 6-0 Chiozza averaged 6 points, 4 rebounds and 7.3 assists. Chiozza’s 7.3 assists per game ranked third among 64 players taking part in the showcase event for college seniors.

Koulechov’s best game was on Saturday, when he finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Chiozza had 8 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a solid all-around floor game on Thursday.

“Chiozza did a good job,” said an NBA scout, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “He played like he normally plays. He’s going to have to fight his way up from the minor leagues. Egor, he’s stronger, more mature, but the league has a lot of guys that are strong and mature. He should be able to make money overseas.”

Two other former SEC standouts also had strong showings in Portsmouth. Former Arkansas guard Jaylen Barford was named tournament MVP, while former Georgia forward Yante Maten made the all-tournament team.
