Newcomer Pinkins top paid UF assistant basketball coach

Florida associate coach Al Pinkins is set to make $315,000 for the 2018-19 season, while Florida assistant coaches Darris Nichols and Jordan Mincy both received significant raises as well.

Pinkins, hired from Texas Tech to replace departed UF associate coach Dusty May, is being paid a $305,000 base salary and a $10,000 Nike apparel bonus.

Nichols and Mincy will each make $295,000 next season (a $285,000 base salary plus $10,000 Nike bonus). Mincy was bumped up from a $227,000 salary in 2017-18, while Nichols was bumped up from a $206,000 salary.

Nichols and Mincy have been with Florida coach Mike White since he was hired in 2015 and have been part of a staff that reached the Elite Eight in 2017 and Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament last season.

Pinkins was making $200,000 in 2016-17 at Texas Tech, however no salary information was available from what he made with the Red Raiders last season.

All three UF assistants are eligible to make a $1,500 bonus in September based on basketball player academic performance as well.
